Well, its time to get a new phone (these are free with signup) and im looking at the LG VX7000 vs the Motorla V710.

What i dont get is the LG VX7000's specs state that it has "0.3 megapixel VGA camera resolution" while the motorla v710 says it has 1.2 megapixels. this seems pretty lopsided, yet most of the reviews i read abotu the LG (even the CNET editorials) say that the LG camera is a pro and its very powerful.

am i missing something? The resolution seems immensely low compared to the motorola...but it might be as it seems.

another thing is, how would you guys value bluetooth capability? The LG doesnt have it, while the motorola does. any cool applications that i would use? i dont need any fancy/flashy features, i dont know if bluetooth has any *PRACTICAL* benefit.... although i heard the Acura TL has something to do with it (which my dad is going to get).

any inputs/experiences with the aforementioned phones? thanks guys.

i know, i know. i roll my eyes when people flip out because their phones can take pictures, do calculus, and cook dinner for them. but in this case, both phones are free and i would definately like to pick one that its better overall.

I have the VX7000 and i must say the camera is terrible. Even after putting the resolution on the highest setting and the file quality on Fine (highest setting). When I email the pictures to myself they are blurry and hard to see sometimes (at any distance greater than 5 or 10 feet)

I'm happy with my VX7000 overall, but picture quality is so-so, but I don't have a V710 to compare with. Best things about the VX7000:
Long battery life
Buttons are easy to press
Sturdy (so far)
No problems (so far)
Beautiful display
Verizon call quality/signal strength good
This is my first 'fancy' phone so I appreciate little things like the built-in apps - alarm clock and calculator.

Negatives:
No speaker phone
No speaker phone
No speaker phone

I bought a data cable on eBay and downloaded free software to manage pictures, contacts, and ringtones. My previous phone was the venerable Motorola i90c

Aside from the neg of no speaker phone and such, i also find quality in LG phones lacking. I find myself rebooting the phone often lately, and so does my gf who has a different model.

The VX8100 just came out and its loaded with features (1.3mp camera, video recording, bluetooth, miniSD, stereo speakers, EVDO) and for a good price if you go for a contract renewal. The moto is a little less but I have heard the quality isn't too great and its not too sturdy, so for the price difference it might be worth checkin out the 8100. I have had a VX6100 for a while now and as far as quality I have never had any issue and have definitely dropped it a few times. I am looking to try and sell my 6100 so I can get an 8100.

The VX7000 is nice but there are significant improvements to go with the VX8000 and VX8100 over it so take a look at both of them too. The thing with Verizon is (that I screwed up with the 6100) is that its worth spending a little more for a good phone with features because you'll have it usually for 1-2 years and eventually those features become more accessible.

I have the v710 and I love it.
It has expandable memory and I've got 2 cd's and a movie stored on it.
I use mine as an mp3 player with the motorola stereo headphones that you can find for $6 on ebay.

i just got the vx7000 thru verizon and i find that the reception isnt all that great. compared to my old nokia analog phone, reception is worse. the built in software is great and easy to manage, so as long as i have reception, using it is a breese

pick from below:

LG VX 6100 - great standard feature set and analog/digital, camera will suffice
Moto E815 - All the bells and whistles, good phone, better camera, BT, etc.

Moto suks. It's made in China. For all CDMA users out there, if you had GSM + SE phones you would be like having orgasms....

Anyways, I say wait for the next gen to come out. Those 2 are outdated phones.... Moto is releasing hella crap during Q3 and Q4.

Yup--no speakerphone, even though Amazon's review says it does :| :|

That's why they're cheaper than cheap!

I have the v710 and I like it. V710 seems to be pretty sturdy too; I've dropped it a couple of times and nothing's happened so far. The e815 is supposed to have a better camera but is only dual-band and lacks analog. But w/ the e815, you can use the speakerphone w/ the phone closed like ppl do w/ nextels. So basically, if you're in an area w/ shaky reception imo you'd be better off w/ the v710, but otherwise get the e815.

I was talking to a rep and she said that the v710 has had some issues with the camera breaking easily. Something about the rings around the camera. She said the same design is used in the e815. Not a crazy concern I was just curious. Does anyone even have the VX8100...?
