I get service at a lot of stations with Cingular.

Verizon is the devil...

Sprint is satan...

Nextel is the spawn of satan...

CDMA and IDEN suck!

i don't think there's any wireless signal that can reach nyc underground subway stations yet, and I would choose Verizon over Cingular in nyc due to better coverage and customer service.

No question, Verizon.

but it is the most expensive (you get what you pay for.)

From what I know, you're correct. No service in the subways. Unless you're going over a bridge or it's an outdoor, above ground subway.

WTF are you talking about?

Anyway, Sprint just came out with their new plans and they all include roaming, so by going with Sprint, you also get Verizon's coverage. Verizon has been doing this for years and it's why they have such great coverage. So, you can pay more with Verizon and get a worse phone, or go with Sprint and get cheaper plans, better phone, and the same coverage.

You decide. I have no idea what SurgicalShark was talking about.

Verizon is horrible when it comes to getting new phones. Lets not forget to mention the fact that they butcher all the damn phones when they finally get them.

I guess i just enjoy the freedom and flexibility of GSM and unlocked phones.

In NYC it is definitely Verizon.

I don't know of any underground subway stations where you can get phone service. Perhaps if you stand near an exit but cell phones don't work inside the tunnels.

Verizon. No doubt about it. Sometimes I can even talk underground but that's like 1 out of 10 stations. Rarely any dead spots. All of my friends with Sprint or Cingular tell me they suck donkey balls and that they want to switch to Verizon. Only downfall is that it's quite expensive. I have the 1200 minute plan shared with my gf and pay about $140 a month. It's been solid though.

I'm happy with Verizon but I don't get much of a signal underground in the subway or underground in GCT waiting for the train to leave.

Sprint has been getting better for us over the last 2.5 years we've been with them. I can even use the phone in some "cut and cover" stations (the ones right below the street). My main concern when first getting cellphones was getting coverage in our apartment, and pals / family with Sprint seemed to do best when visiting (as opposed to other carriers), which is how we ended-up with Sprint. Be sure that whatever you get works where you live!

Um....verizon is already doing this.

BTW, with sprint, if you get the phone insurance that's like $4 a month or something, their "Total Equipment Protection", it's like an extended warranty, you don't have to pay for service in store with that, and they take care of you just like before.

FYI, most carriers are using this practice now to cut down on abuse of the system with inept reps giving away new phones to customers who just complain when they shouldn't be. In general the rule is if they don't find something wrong with your phone, you have to pay like $15 (basically for the time it took them to look at it and analyze it). Can you really blame them? So many people abuse the system that it's come to this.

Who gives a crap how good the phone is if you can't get coverage?

My cousins who are so into cell phones ended up just getting rid of them because they couldn't get Cingular and T-Mobile coverage where they were.
