Cell-Phone Ban for noobs behind the wheel.

I am a new driver and this may seem a little weird but i completely agree with that. I never talk on the phone when i drive. Alot of my friends do it, and at least three have been in accidents becuase of being destracted from their phones. People just dont pay attention as well when their talking on a phone.

It's sad, really. A cell-phone is dangerous in a kid's hand yes, but that doesn't mean it's not also dangerous in an adult's hand. These sort of laws should target everyone, not just kids. Legislative bodies these days have no backbone, it seems.

people who go out and have a couple are better drivers than people yakking on their phones

Virge, I agree. However, this is a good first step toward legislation that encompasses adults, and does so in a way that doesn't offend today's voters.

Very true

how do they justify 'un-experienced drivers'
someone can have a liscense for 20 years and never drive...

Just ban talking on the cell while driving, no matter how "experienced" the driver is.

Also, some people can drive for 20 years and STILL be a crappy driver. Some people just don't have it in them to be a good driver.

It's illegal around my area for everybody to use a cell phone while driving. I'm not sure whether that's a NYS law, or a county law though.

it should only be illegal if you dont have a hands free set. my dad travels for business, and if he had to pull of EVERYTIME he had a phone call, it would take him nearly 3 days to do what he does in one day. he does have a hands free set, but i see the no cell-phone rule while driving period as a bad thing. i didnt read the law, but if it disregards those with hands free sets, thats good.

Yes, that is NY State law.

You can express yourself by driving a car, or by talking on a phone; just not both at the same time.😛
