cell phone as modem

can i use a blutooth enable cell phone to connect to the interent with my bluetooth enable laptop? do i have to subscibe to the intenet feature on the phone or can i just use an existing account to connect like aol? i was thinking of getting a plan with nationwide long distant and no roaming charges. which phone would be good for this? thanks.

I think cellphones can only get upto 9600kb/s, versus v90/92 of around 60kb/s

yes it can bedone and theres other phones with higher speeds out there. I ran a laptop and my pc (when i moved cross country) off of the sprint i sereis (500 to 700 $ phones). worked like a charm... actually i was also able to get online through the phone with no extra charges.

thats a nice site on the google thing. that is the first time i've seen it. most of the time people just tell you to search but this site says it all. do i have to get that cable? i was thinking of using the bluetooth to connect.

can this (getting online with you laptop via a cellphone without additional charges) still be done..lets say with verizon?

ok..anyone done this with verizon? I know they have their express network....I see that using the phone for data uses your minutes but does that mean weeekend and nights are free?

nights weekends are free on your plan....then nights and weekends are free on your internet

all your doing it calling another number which connects you to the net....its just a phone call
