so me and the ol lady switched to Cingular and we get our phones charged up and we are inside of the apartment and bam,, total crap up and down reception. not bad but the reception meter bounces all over the place and i can here that underwater gargling sound i hate so much.
also getting calls popping in and out when im talking.

now,,, are there any legit cell phone antenna boosters.
there is one that sticks to your battery but i swear i saw review on tv a while back that said its bogus. its just a scam.

cellphoneshop.com has that and alot of stuff for this phone on clearance. samsung x427m
the "booster is only a buck 30 $1.30 and the pc adapter is on clearance for 11.90 and the belt holsters are only 3 bucks

is it gunna be worth the 1.30 to try these ? or was i right the back of your battery antenna booster is just a scam.

i havent been outside yet driving around to check reception since we just got them last night but,,,, if its like this inside where our apartment has a balcony and still the reception is fluctuating...

Read your contract, there may be like a 5 day period in there where you can return the phone and cancel the contract for just such a reason. Why have a phone if you can't even use it?

well we can use it,, i just need to get out and drive around to see how the reception is outside the apartment but yes if i cant get decent reception with this phone the poop whats the use.
ill get a better phone.
i have read a few things about thishone with people saying that reception inside their house and work was crap but outside it was fine.

I got one of those sticker antenna booster things free with a USB cable for my phone i bought on ebay...they make no difference.

you must have stuck it on upside down.

KK tsk tsk tsk now no making fun of my error with my 6800 GT thats not nice.
(if you had a BFG 6800 GT you would know what i was talking about)

lol i just never expected someone to reply with that comment thats too funny. JERK!! heheh just kidding.

I've found that most of these scams do work very well at their intended purpose. That purpose is extracting money from idiots.

maybe you need to update the phone/roaming capability, you do that by dial *228 on verizon, not sure if they have the same thing for cingular.

NO....There is no such thing as a WORKING cell phone antenna booster that cost less than $5000!!!!

Return the phones and switch Providers within the trial period....If you haven't tried yet...test VerizonWireless

cell boosters are for suckers

don't you think for a mere $1.50 if they could dramatically increase the performance of the phone the cell phone make wouldn't do this

if they could than they would simply add this and charge $50 more for the phone

LOL, funny thing is, I have no idea what you're talking about. You got a link?

Isn't GSM usually bad in buildings compared to CDMA? Or is that just phone-specific and/or a myth about GSM service?

not sure about GSM but that whole GSM thing is just bunk anyways how many people are actually going top be outside the USA to use GSM?

and i jsut took a trip around town and everything seems to be hunky dory so.. i think bad reception in buildings is more of a phone thing cuz we had a Kyocera phone with US Cellular prior to this and never had any issues.

so,,, all in all if it pisses me off too much ill just call cingular or the place we got the phones (who by the way i have already emailed about our order twice in the last 5 days and they havent replied back yet, and their phone number just says to email them. lol what a bunch of crap...
1800mobiles.com is the place..

you might not be able to buy an antenna 'booster', but you can usually find external antenna kits for cell phones. Wilson Antennas makes some good ones, along with adapters to let you plug the external antenna into a cell phone. There are lots of higher-gain antennas out there for cell phones.

At our farm, we get lousy reception, but we have an external antenna mounted on our house. We just run a cable inside and plug it into the phone. Reception goes from 0-1 bars to 4-5 bars.

It cost about $50 for the antenna and $10 for the adapter, I think. We also got a 20 foot extension cable for $20 or $30.

It cost a little money, but now we don't need a land line.

That's not true. You can get a true antenna and cable setup for well under $5k.

Those stickers are scams. If your reception sucks, just exchange the phone for a different one. Did you both get X427m's or just one of you. That phone is typically a pretty good one, so maybe just your unit? Cingular does receive bad phones from the manufacturer all the time, so it is not impossible. If you do switch to another phone, just make sure it is not the LG 1300 or the Nokia 3120. Those phones have crap reception. Also remember that Cingulars phone exchange policy is to only allow 1 swap per phone number in 30 days, so make your next selection count.

I see that you are in Iowa, in Iowa a large portion of the Cingular towers are 1900mhz, which is known to be bad at penetrating buildings. Cingular is currently deploying 850mhz towers, which are much better at penetrating. If you signed up as a Cingular customer recently, your SIM is pre-programmed to search for the 1900mhz towers first, and then the 850. Try turning off your phone and then turning it back on to see if you can be serviced by the 850. When in your house does it show grey reception bars rather than black? If you can see grey bars that means you are in an area with other reception that your phone is not accessing.

With Cingular you have a 3 day period in which you can return the phones and not pay the activation fees. After 3 days and before 30 you can still return the phones without the termination fee, you do have to pay the activation fee though. Regardless of when you cancel in the 30 day period, you do pay a prorated amount for the service used.

I called my provider for the same problem, their answer was 'Get a landline'. Actually, I'm probably going to pay all penalties in June and tell them to stick the phone where the sun don't shine. My parents live 5 minutes away and I can't even talk to them without each side missing half the conversation.
