Cell Phone Account Question

I'm facing a $150 early termination charge if I cancel before 7/12/07. The thing is, I know that I've been with my carrier for almost 2 years, and when I signed up it was in January of 2005. I was surprised to hear that the contract terms specify fulfillment at 7/12/07.

The only relevant detail that may account for that contract date is the fact that I added a 2nd line to my account somewhere along the line, but I can't recall exactly what month it was. It could've been in July and if they renewed my contract at that point it would explain why the termination date falls in July.

Is there any way to fight against that $150 charge? Staying with the carrier isn't really an option because I'm moving and changing jobs where my employer will supply me a cell phone with their own carrier. Am I just going to have to eat that $150?

yup, sucks but as far as I know you won't get out of it. Yeah anytime you change crap on your plan, they usually consider that a renewel of your contract... hence you adding a line changed your contract date

Move to an area with no reception. Sprint and Verizon will let you out of contract for free, and others my too.

yeah, thats a great idea.

Put your place on the market or cancel your rental contract and just move to BFE Alaska just to escape a $150.00 cancellation charge.

Yeah they probably renewed your contract when you added the second line, because I'm guessing you got that second phone at a discounted rate.

Yeah they comp'd me the phone for the 2nd line which implies agreement to a contract.

Oh well. $150 isn't gonna kill me, and its obviously less than staying in the contract until July.
