I have to make a model of a cell for Biology and I would like to use something like clear hairgel for the cytoplasm. Problem is I need about a gallon of hairgel (it's a big model, 12"x12"x6"). Any suggestions or home-made recipies? Note: The substance has to be stable at room temperature (can't require refridgeration).
Thanks!

Unflavored gelatin maybe if you make it a little on the thick side? It might still melt, I don't know. Although I have seen some cheap hair gel in like quart tubs before that was clear adn colorless, if you could find that it would be easier maybe.

I will say agar again, and hey your teacher might even have some to spare. Depends if they still pour their own plates or not.
