celica GT faster the gts STOCK?

my friend said he had a friend that like cut off his butterfly valve of his gt and he raced a gts and one twice and he also beat gts with header exhaust possible or not possible? where is the butterfly valve?

celica GT's are dogs. They only come in auto (i think) and have 140 hp. A GTS has 180hp with 6 speed. H/I/E dont make 40 hp at the crank. Your friend has no idea what he is talking about.

cut off the butterfly valve eh? I don't know what that means exactly, but to me it sounds like he was porting his throttle plate. Think of your intake as a hose with a disk inside of it that swivels so that it can allow air in, or swivel shut to close it up..that is the throttle plate. When you press on the gas, the pedal is actually pulling a cable which pulls on the throttle plate to open it. (some modern cars are throttle-by-wire so it's all electronic).

By porting the edges of the throttle plate you can optimize airflow into the system (by having no sharp edges to disrupt airflow). Think fluid dynamics. By him saying that he cut off his butterfly valve, sounds to me like he doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. Either that or dumbing it down.

And there's no way to pull out 40 HP w/ I/H/E on an NA engine

They are not dogs.... My Ma' has a GT 5 speed.

It's not a FAST car, but it's quick and a blast to drive.

Well the 6-speed on the GTS is only for the stick shift. Automatic IS an option. The automatic Celica GT-S is slow but should still be quicker than the GT.

Celica GT's ARE dogs... my friend has a 2000 Celica GT with an automatic (sucks) and it's a very limp car... absolutely NOTHING off the line...

We raced some older woman in a sunfire convertible with a younger girl in the back and probably her husband in the front, and they freaking won.. i couldn't believe it.... Celica GT is some show, no go.

well, I can personally attest to the Celica GT Auto NOT being a total DOG. It is not a GT-S however. I have beaten many a Mustang but i would say 99% is all DRIVER related, not the car. A car is only as good as the driver. If you power brake(hold your foot on the brake but gas the engine to 3-4k RPM) you will squeal off the line like a crackhead in a cop race ;) They are quick but are by NO means a race car. I am just sick of all the lowered honda boys wanting to race. they think since they lowered their car and put a 4" exaust tip on they can race. This is the EXACT reason i am getting rid of mine for a 2k2 Camaro SS. Piss on those RICER boys. oh and BTW, those honda boys got SMOKED :D

yeah, but my eclipse gt will walk all over you. :D and i don't even need to powerbrake to squeal a tire. biaaaaaaaaaaaaaatch! :D

Bah...the new Eclipses are slow...what do they run in the 1/4mi -- high 15s?

I like the older Eclipses...

I just hate it when EVERYONE in an import wants to race you cause they think they are BAD@$$. I get it all the time here. (i'm near a Military base) Sooooo many punks think that mommies civic is a race car since they put in a K&N filter. It's just sad how the import racing scene has gone to crap IMHO. That is the ONE and ONLY reason i am trading in my 2k Celica for a good old LS1 Pushrod V8. Hope to take delivery here soon. :D

i'll accept that. but saying that you're taking on mustangs - ugh...
i'll be getting the evo vii. :D i checked out the ss, but the hood and the car are so freaking looooooooooooooooooooong it's hard to drive. not to mention the wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide turning diameter.
