Are any Celerons Good at Overclocking?

yes, the 300a, the 533 and 566, the 1.0a, 1.1a and to a lesser extent 1.2a. If your taliking p4 based celeron then the 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 are best as they can all hit 3.0ghz (ish) with high fsb to make up for crappy IPC. The best celeron currently is the mobile cpu, you can pick up a cheap 1.4-1.8ghz laptop chip run it in a 865pe motherboard and have decent performance (relatively) at 2.5-2.8ghz

As I've said many times before about the Celerons:

You can eat sand and crap a better processor!

While the celerons may overclock well, it doesn't matter because the cache is so gimped. For the Intel Netburst architecture to thrive it needs a large cache. The long pipeline simply can't stay filled with a cache the size of the celeron's. Overclocking will certainly benefit performance but it will never be good on one of those chips.

If you are thinking of buying one, your current system would definitely perform better than any celeron. I take it that you are interested because you want to OC friend'ssystem or something? OCing is still worth it if you're stuck with that chip, but I would never buy one.

I second the notion that OC'ing celery's is not the best idea....but I have had some pretty good success with using the mobile 1.4-1.8 and using the 865pe??(i think) chipset. Pretty decent performance, especially if you have watercooling...the voltage stays low and you get pretty nice performance for the money...but to be honest, if you want budget OC'ing, stick with a nice 2.4C, they are pretty affordable and MUCH better than the standard Celery fare...IMHO

And the Duron overclocks as well, for far less money.
