Celery 333 overclocking ?

I have a friend's celly 333 (slot 1 model) here that I'm assimilating for Team Anandtech. He asks me to overclock it, but his mobo (QDI brilliant 1) won't allow over 83FSB, which gives 416 MHz. I know that a 333 will do 550, but is there something to do to the CPU or mobo, or am I really stuck at 83 with this mobo ?

thx fo advice.

If its a BX board you must have 100Mhz as an option. The 333 has a 5.0 multiplier (5.0 x 66 = 333) so just step it up to 100mhz FSB for 500Mhz. 83Mhz is flaky anyway because the PCI bus and AGP are way out of spec.

I had the same problem witha gigabyte ga6em mobo would only do 66/75/83, and I ran it for months fine at 416 out of spec with no problems.

Ugh. You're right, folks. Its 500, not 550. Well I'll try the b21 trick and see how it goes. Else I'll leave it @416 unless it shows too high for the peripherals, which wasn't the case in the past 2 days. Thx all 🙂
