well they both have 1mb cache, but the su2300 has 2 cores.

i'd take the su2300 every time.

I'm looking at the aspire laptops as well and deciding well to get the su2300 or the su3500(Solo core, 3mb cache)?

I want to know if its worth spending the extra $50 for a laptop that has the su2300 instead of the su3500. I will be using the laptop for email, word processing, and surfing.

Yes, it is worth it. The switch from 1 to 2 cores makes a huge difference in everyday computing. It's painful to go back to a single core machine from a dual core.

Also, the Acer 1410 series of laptops has been getting rather good ratings, especially because they are priced about the same as a netbook, but are almost 3x faster.
