Received my Sunday weekly newspaper ads today, and it's cruel and sad to hear that my local electronic store is liquidating out all the Celeron 2957U Haswell notebooks, which is reported to be the final-edition Celeron "notebook quality" processor. Dell was the only manufacturer to offer a 2957U, and this model has been out of production since Fall 2014.

So, what's new and coming in the "tablet" processor game. D:

Sweet man thanks for that, unfortunately I don't have Micro Center where I live but sure I'll keep an eye on those models, specially the ASUS one.
Frys.com has a weekly sale on a Acer Celeron N2840 with 2GB RAM for $169, but it's sold out now. For people that has a Fry's store nearby, you can get it for $149.99 after $20 promo code, but a lot of them are open-box. Stores across southern California receive 200 units back from return because it's slow and only 2GB.

It's the golden chance of NVIDIA and AMD to show their Tegra X1 and the A10 6700 micro.
Intel is going retarded on that side too I see...

Most places seem to think Braswell's replacement (Apollo Lake?) won't be out for another year, so maybe they can finally get to 2.7GHz turbo like they promised in the meantime? Challenge!

Benchmark score finally released on Braswell Celeron N3150 quad-core, with only 372 single-thread score (ouch):

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Celeron+N3150+%40+1.60GHz

Compare to Bay Trail Celeron N2940 quad-core previous model with 508 single-thread score:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Celeron+N2940+@+1.83GHz

Also, Bay Trail Celeron J1900 quad-core for desktops at 527:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Celeron+J1900+@+1.99GHz

Who's ready for 372 single-thread Braswell score? :whiste: From 2013 Celeron G470 at 992 to 2016 Celeron N3150 at 372, what a wonderful way to celebrate your computer, right?.

Funny enough, I suggested that Moore's Law (the layman version) was going to go BACKWARDS with the introduction of Atom. Guess I was right.

That's a pretty sad single-threaded score. I think that's even lower than my Sempron 3850 rig, un-overclocked. (Though, probably not by much.)

Edit: (My 3850)
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Sempron+3850+APU+with+Radeon+R3&id=2209
Passmark: 1695
Single Thread Rating: 515

Wholly sheet. The Sempron 3850 is, well, kind of slow, in single-threaded, and that's at a 515 rating. I can't imagine how slow a 372 is. (Actually, that sounds kind of similar to my C-70 1.0Ghz APU.)

WTH is Intel thinking? I never thought that I would be advising clients to choose AMD over Intel, for performance at the low end.

I operate a Sempron 2650 dual-core, and while its 515 single-thread score is very slow, it's considered to be high-end for extreme budget builds. I actually don't hate it, and I've seen worse before. I used to own a 2011 C-50 1.00GHz 15.6" laptop (no turbo), and its single-thread score is only 264 with only 2GB RAM installed. Yuck... I mentioned C-50 in the "worst CPU thread" several times already.

That Sempron can be Oced up to 2.0 Ghz which mades it a very decent chip for that price

And BTW If Mullins appears with updated drivers and on a correct machine, Intel will have nothing to do.
Even Tegra X1 is FAR superior that those abominations

The lower single-thread score in Braswell Celeron N3150 is due to a lower base speed at 1.60GHZ instead at 2.16GHz in Bay Trail. I wonder how Celeron N3000 will perform at 1.04GHz? Good or bad idea, I'll let you say about Intel?

That's right but you need to admit it.... despite the GPU improvement, the CPU one ended to be a brutal stepback compared to previous gen.

The CPU is exactly the same as in BayTrail. And all SKUs havent been released yet for Braswell.

In the tablets you can get the same 1.6/2.4Ghz chips between BayTrail and CherryTrail.

Don't believe and assume newer processors are always better than old ones. Manufacturers are constantly cutting costs in manufacturing every single day, and they want their processors to be 1 nm die-shape and size similar to CR2032 battery by now. Celeron G470 was the last and best starter processor we saw (period), and now Celeron 1037u is reported to be little faster than Broadwell Celeron 3205u (if OEMs feel like to put one) to my surprise.

It may be a good thing a little, because I can keep my G470 forever with Windows 10 next and screw the future.

Don't be surprised if the OEMs put the Phone Atom x3 on full HD notebooks. It would be the most retarded thing ever.

Oh yes, always a possibility. I'm running 5 main PCs on my work desk, and my Celeron G470 build is the first one to receive Windows 10. My faster ones are in "wait" mode in case Windows 10 turns out to be dud.

And yet, we can't seem to get Carrizo notebooks with 1080P screens and SSDs from OEMs. Must be the Contra-revenue!

Agreed. INBF OEMs are so retarded that launches a Netbook with Windows 10 mobile and a Atom x3

After calculating the percentage ratio from N3150 1.60GHz quad-core, Celeron N3000 1.04GHz dual-core's single-thread score is around 230.

It will perform somewhat similar to the AMD E1 2100, yeah, that monocore piece of trash.
