I want to pull my 2.8ghz processor from my Dimension 4600 and put it in a ASUS P4P800 with Zalman 7000 heatsink, but was wondering what I should do with the remaining Dell motherboard/case. Does anyone know if a P4 based Celeron will work in a Dimension 4600 (865PE chipset)? Thanks

It should without a problem, cant say for certain because I have never done it but I know Dell's processors are your everyday off-the-shelf ones. Besides, the motherboard and BIOS will probably reconfigure automatically anways...

I think I am going to try a Celeron 2GHZ from Newegg ($63.50). I figure the motherboard should automatically detect the processor and run fine.
