Celeron II & NHL 2000 crashing... any ideas?

Hello everyone. 🙂

I'm not really sure if this question is more hardware or software-related, but I'm guessing it's a hardware issue, so here goes:

Just the other day I upgraded from a Celeron 366 (ran at 550) to a Celeron II 533 (running at 800). Prior to the switch, the game I play the most, NHL 2000, worked perfectly fine. Since the switch, however, NHL 2000 crashes every time with a GPF window... "NHL2K executed an invalid instruction in module NHL2K.EXE at 0157:0065f94c." The game also crashes with the same message when I'm running the new CPU at its base 533 speed.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions/similar experiences? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

If it's a hardware problem, I'd recommend updating the drivers for your videocard. Also, try to locate if a patch does exist for your game to see if your issue that you are experiencing is common.

1. You need to make sure the cooling is properly set on the CPU.
2. You might need higher voltage for the Celeron.

If all you did is change the cpu it's either the slotket or the CPU.

Most likely you need more voltage.
