Which machine would be faster for older games, with same components (7200rpm magtor 40gb and GF2 MX):

A Celeron 800 with BX440 chipset and 256mb PC133 ram
or Duron 750 with KT133 chipset and 256mb PC133 ram?

Yep, the Duron was even getting close to doing as much work per clock as the P3. Not quite, but almost.

My server is a duron 700 and it does great. My brother even uses photoshop on it.

This is a 100 MHz FSB celeron so the Duron is a little faster but it doesn't "pwn" it like it would a 66 MHz celeron. Either one would be fine for most of the bargain-bin games out there.

Either is fine, the celerons based on the P3 core have a much smaller performance hit from the low fsb and cache, as compared to the cripped pentium 4 based celeron POSs that are flying around now.

Looks like it gets "pwned" to me Even the Duron 600 is "faster for older games" like Q3Arena.

yay the old 440bx. mines sitting on a desk collecting dust. it was the best p2/cely/pre-socket p3 chipset ever. but i have to go with the duron on this one
