I want to upgrade my system. Will most Celeron 667's hit 1000mhz at 100mhz bus or am I taking a gamble in buying one to OC to 1ghz?

If the odds are not good, where are some good places to get pretested CPUs?

Well I have a Celeron 667 and it won't boot past 752 Mhz which is pretty bad. Voltage increase did not help. I here the 566 and 600's are good OC chips. Also the PIII-700E seems to be a good OC chip.

The odds are not good. For a pretested cpu, just post a WTB thread in the For Sale/Trade forum. Or just send a private message to compuwiz1 or bonkers325. They will take good care of you.

if you're going to go with the roll of the dice, then make sure you get a cCO stepping core! you may just get a golden chip. :)

The Celeron 533's and 566's are the best ones to overclock. Also the P3-700E is one of the best P3's to overclock. I got one :) Might wanna spend the extra cash and get the P3, cuz in case you can't overclock too well the P3 will still do you nicely.

The odds of that chip hitting 1000 are about as good as my odds of sleeping with Kathy Ireland:Q...possible, but HIGHLY unlikely...seriously, go with a P3-700E...you'll have much better luck. Grendel99 makes a good point...spend the extra cash and get the P3, in case you can't overclock much the P3 will still do you nicely.

Buy a pretested CPU from egay, there are some guys there that have been selling Celerons that go over 1 GHz since they came out, and have like hundreds of positive feedbacks with no negatives... I haven't actually done this, but I would if I needed to upgrade. $.02

I have a Celeron 633 @ 950. I am using a CUSL2-C with PC133 128mb ram, super orb hsf, Antec SX830 case with one intake fan in the front and 2 outtake fans in the back. Completely stable with motherboard temp of 23C and cpu temp 34C at idle.
I just had to up the voltage to 1.8v.

Hey guys, I am completely new to OCing. I was thinking of taking my 700 Celeron up to whatever I can get that's stable. Now, my system is a Dell dimension L I picked up a while back for a phenominal deal(the 399$ one ^_~) What kind of Heatsick should I use, and what are some projected OC speeds for this chip? Thanks!
