Celeron 633 voltage questions

I recently purchased a celeron 633 to use on my abit bx6r2. It hits 790 (83x9.5) easily with no voltage adjustments but I have so far pushed the voltage to 1.90 trying for 950 and I haven't gotten farther than the windows 2000 splash screen. I tried the retail h/s and also an old alpha/globalwin combo I had for a ppga setup. Strangely it seems like the retail h/s got the chip farther into windows as when I try the alpha I get media errors (disk not bootable, etc.). I already had one scare as my system wouldn't POST for about 10 minutes and I thought I had burned out yet another chip. Golden orb and arctic silver my best bet? On overclockers.com the same chip S-code as mine has been pushed up over 1.9v with the golden orb setup. Any advice? This is the 3rd celeron I've bought that won't do 100fsb easily (300a, 366a) so I'm really hoping to not get screwed here. I also don't want to fry the chip as I'm poor as hell! Any help would be great

Have you updated your biod to the newest firmware? That could help you get higher. I had the same problem with a Celeron 466, but after searching the forums, I found that 83mhz is about it for a 466. On the other hand, I can get a 300a to 100fsb no prob.:D

not sure but 1.90v is a little high.

I have a Celeron 633 that does 950 at only 1.75v. It gets a little warm for me with the Retail Heatsink and fan but I have had no problems and it is stable so far.

This is only my second Celeron that I have even used, and was suprised that it made it to 950 so easy. The first was a Celeron 300a @ 450mhz 2.0v.

I have it set at 633mhz for now because of temp. I will put it back at 950mhz when I get better cooling (Orb, Alpha, etc...)

What motherboard and if you are using a slotket, what model are you using? I'm using a generic but I'd get something better if it could help.

I am currently using an Abit VH6 board.

You may want to try a different slotket if you can.

I have heard of some overclocking better than others.
