celeron 566 malay, I have it overclocked at 850. Sometimes when win98 is loading up it freezes in the win98 picture just before it actually loads. Is it a stability issue for the cpu? If I bump the voltage up from 1.70 to 1.75 will it fix this. The celeron is running at 47 celsius with heatsink.

I've been running a Maylay Cel566 at 850MHz for over a year now on two different boards with Win98 and 2K. It's rock stable and always boots even with just a +0.05 bump on the voltage. The 566 is usually an easy OC to 850. Try bumping the voltage if you need to. I'd also try a conservative memory timing or try just a single stick of ram and see if that makes a difference. Your temp is fine for that CPU.
Take a look at the database for the 566 at http://overclockers.com/

My Celeron 566 was o/c at 807 on a 95 fsb and 1.75v (with Golden Orb) for over a year, but never was able to make it run at 850, of cours it was an oem !!!
A retail sould go to 850mhz

mobo P3V4X
Asus slocket

just upgraded for a Celeron 1ghz retail (still Golden Orb) and for now no much luck with o/c, only running at 30mhz more (1030), might be the mobo or slocket the culprit ????
