Celeron 533 and 533A?

Hi!

What is the difference between Celeron 533 and Celeron 533A?
How do I know which one I have (the box and all the other things is gone...)?
Which one is best for overclocking?
What voltage are they running at? What voltage should I have if I want to set the FSB up to 80-90MHz?

The Celeron 533 was made on a .25 process while the 533A was the lowest speed celeron made on the .18 process. The easiest way to ID it is to go to H. Oda and download his CPUID program. It easy to use and gather information from.

The 533A is the easiest celermine128 (aka Celeron 533A +) to overclock. Most people get at least 800 @ 100FSB, if not more.( I have a 533A i bought from compuwiz1 a long time ago that does 896 @ 1.75v) If you are unfortunate enough to have the regular 533 then dont expect much if any of an overclock.

As for voltages the older 533 .25 celeron runs @ 2.0 and the 533A .18 celeron runs @ 1.5
Voltage for the 533A if you have it is generally safe up to 1.8-9 thought an argument could be made here.

The easiest wat to tell is look at the top of the chip package.

533A is a FC-PGA (little chip sticking out of big square, maybe 1x.5cm).

533 is PPGA (very large nickel metal square sticking out, maybe2cmx2cm).

My C533 does fine at 600 at 2.0v default. check the heatsink to make sure ther is no room between it and the CPU.
