are celeron 500 or 600 good for overclocking? if i'm on the budget will they be suitable for playin soldier of fortune and new racers on my system with v3 3000 and 128 ram?

My Cel600@945 thread

The link above takes you to a thread i started earlier today. The Celeron 600 is a very good overclocker. Im running at 945 with standard air cooling now. 900 is common with these chips.

ditto the 566 celly here . ive had mine up to 952 with a global-win FOP-32 ,and this is the OEM version (sl-46 malaysia if i remeber correctly) that you can find for under 60 bucks on pricewatch.

I got my friend a 566 OEM last summer and that thing is a little gem. She does over a 1000 but needs more cooling then the Golden Orb he has on it so it rides at 933 for now, and at 1.70 volts. The 633 will do 100mhz at around 1.8 volts and I had one that does 997 on an Golden Orb, will do more but needs better HSF.

na, my question was whether i will be abble to play latest 3d games on Celero 500-600........ once i get my system workin , only then i care about OC

You will be able to play games just fine at the stock speed. But you will only be running at 66mhz. A 100mhz OC is easy to reach and will give you alot more performance.

the PPGA Celerons 500 and 533 MAX are CRAP for overclocking, due to the fact they are at the top of their Yields for that core (mendocino I believe)
the CII 533's and up are good for overclocking. commonly hit 100 MHz BUS.
