Celeron 2.8 versus P4 2.4B

I'm trying to decide between a 2.8 Celeron(100fsb) and a P4 2.4b(133fsb)..

at stock speed I figure they would be close for most things with the edge to the P4, but I'd like to hear others opinions..

also assuming the celeron can overclock to say 3.3(120fsb), and the P4 to 2.7(150fsb), then what would you think is faster ?

I think the P4 with 533mhz fsb would be much faster with the 512k cache. The 128k cache on the celeron is supposed to really cripple it.

Just have a look at this Tom. A 1.8A beats down a 2.6ghz Celery in a very consistant manner so that 2.4B will own that 2.8 celery. even overclocked that Celery will get schooled hard in everything except maybe DIVX performance.

Think of the celeron as some celery and the P4 as a steamroller.

Tom if value computing is your goal and you wish to stay intel the $120 prescott is the way to go. Kyle at HARDOCP got it to 3.5 on stock HSF. Newegg even offers a free intel bunny with this purchase.

Alternativly, AMD offers the AXP 2100+ for $52 which will kill that celeron OC or not. Better hurry AMD is on LSD and thinks they can charge more than Intel for thier chips now so this may be you last chance to get a AMD processor for less than $100.

LOL, I only bought it because micro center has a deal where you get it and a motherboard and make $30 on the purchase..

Celerons are the slowest thing. It doesn't matter at all what clock rate they run at, 2.0GHz, 2.8GHz, 4.0GHz, doesn't matter, slowest thing there is. Even a 1.3GHz Duron would probably beat them all.
- As for a 2.4GHz P4B...
