OK, guys.
I have a little dilema here :)

Right now I am using Gigabyte GA-8ST with 2.0 Celeron @ 2.4, PC2100 DDR

I was wondering if there is any performance difference
that I can see, if I switch to NForce2 Asus A7N8X with XP2100+ @ let say 2200+ speed,
using Dual PC2100 DDR

Thanks, guys :)

Everthing I have seen shows the Celeron a BIG DOG!!!. A 3Ghz celeron is about the same as a P4 1.8Ghz.

I would hit that nForce2 (use the Dual channel memory for video editing) and rock the Athlon XP

Thanks, man.
I think it explains why my 1900+ KT266 mobo was doing
a better job than this Celeron :D

Intel. Get a 2.0 or 2.4 and OC it a bit with some PC2700 (or OC your current memory). You'll either get better results for the same money or the same results for less. Now, if you want to make another machine for this (or with the leftover parts) instead of just upgrading, go for the AMD.

The P4 Celeron is good at 2 things: video encoding and MP3 encoding. And it's only good then when OCed like a maniac. Since the great CeleronAs, each celeron generation has been crappier per clock than the last, and the newer ones take the prize.

go for amd.
the celeron has little cache which slows down editing
i've seen benchmarks(video encoding) which show it behind an Athlon XP 2000+
even when it's overclocked to 2.7ghz

How you doing?

I've loved the celerons all the way to the tualitans like the last one I got from you but they are becoming real dogs compared to the other stuff out there.

Like it was said, only things the overclocked celeron can do is the cpu speed intensive programs like the encoding or decoding.

Go for the amd solution if you can swing it.

The Athlon will rip the Celeron 2.0 @ 3.0 big time, and the 2100 will do decent against the 2.0A northwood as well.
