My nephew's words when my mother asked if he was excited for Halloween...

"No. We're christians and we don't celebrate Halloween."

I get so sick of that b.s. every year. I've already heard that or variations of it several times including one woman here at work. This time the rumblings are that Halloween is on a Sunday.

What is the big f^cking deal? My kids dress up, act goofy get free candy and we go home and eat their haul. There is no hidden meaning in it anymore than when we watch Harry f^cking Potter. It's ENTERTAINMENT YOU IGNORANT SOBs. My kids are not on the prowl for victims to sacrifice under a full moon aftetr we're done. :disgust:

You think you're tired of hearing people who don't celebrate Halloween? SHUT THE FVCK UP, bitch. People who don't celebrate it are sick and tired of being COMPLETELY SATURATED with something they don't want anything to do with as soon as September comes around. In order to avoid something you don't want anything to do with, you can't go to the STORE, or to a RESTAURANT or to a PUBLIC SCHOOL, or watch much TELEVISION, or listen to much RADIO, blah blah BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Seriously, shut the goddamn monkeyfvck up. :|

Believe it or not, the school district in my town has yielded to protests by self acclaimed Wiccans and has decided not to celebrate it, because apparently kids dressing up and getting candy offends their Wiccan sensibilities. What a crock.

Those are some wierd Wiccans. Every wiccan I've known knows how to laugh at him/her self.

That's a load of bullsh|t. Especially when Christians are completely ignored on the issue.

Christians aren't complaining that it is a desecration of a holiday, of course they'd know desecration of holidays better than most...

I'm guessing they weren't even real Wiccans, just some people trying to get a laugh out of the school district's super PCism, or maybe they are fundamentalist Christian nutcases trying to cause trouble. Let me see if I can find a link.

Christmas (Jesus was supposedly born in March, IIRC), Easter, All Saints Day (the day after Samhain), etc., etc., etc. It's a known fact.

And I don't think I'm in neochat at the moment. I think my client disconnected a few days ago, but I'm not sure because it's hidden ATM...

If you're claiming shenanagins, I posted a link. If you think it's dumb, then I agree with you but for other reasons. No religious faction should keep the school from celebrating a widely accepted children's holiday. If you really have a problem with it, your child doesn't have to participate. No big deal, don't need to spoil the fun for everybody else.

That's because Christians who complain about Halloween don't know jack sh!t about it and assume its all about Satanism.

I fixed your quote too Nik. 😉

I think it's dumb, but only because one religious group levies against it constantly and they're ignored. Then one much smaller religious group pipes up and goes "that hurts our feelings!" and everyone goes HOLY SHIOT!! EVERYBODY BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO MAKE THE LITTLE PEOPLE HAPPY!!! That's why I think it's dumb. 🙂

If I were the type to freak out about my kids and Halloween, wouldn't you think I would require that the holiday not be FORCED on my child (i.e. public school) just like you would require that I not force my beliefs on your children?
