Someone mentioned Opera is another thread and I got to thinking that Oprah should have her own web browser. She could call it "Oprah". Other celebs could follow suit. Maybe have specialized browsers for different celebs. Good idea, no?

The answer is probably found at the end of your name.

I would like to think that many of them would have to contain viruses, if they want to really mimic their celebrity endorsers.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Market a customized "oprah" branded version of firefox or something, there have to be plenty of stupid people out there who follow all the celebs and would love to have their browser branded that way.

I actually think it would be a good idea for other people. There's no way in hell I'd use a celebrity browser, but I think it would be very popular with non techies. The Oprah idea's a good one. Not only is the name humorous, I think her viewers would be interested in something like that.

I was thinking the Oprah browser would have special features to promote her book club, track your weight, etc. The Bono browser would be uber-hip and have a little video of Bono hugging starving kids and begging for money each time you opened it. The Linsay Lohan browser could do an alcohol check before allowing the user to post anything. The Axel Rose browser could throw empties at the browser window. Endless opportunities for product tie-ins.

Thats all great until Little Johnny or Suzie watches some anal porn on the Oprah browser, then the parents would of course sue Oprah for a few hundred million for their angelic cherubs being traumatized from content provided by Oprah.

And yes we all know there really isn't a case, but Oprah might settle to keep her name from being associated with Max Hardcore for a prolonged trial.

That's an excellent idea. It would be a perfect method of extracting more money from the celebrity-obsessed public. If no one has yet done this, jump on it right away. I'm serious. I'm certain millions of people would install a browser that would continuously stream facebook, myspace and blog updates, fan club news, personal appearance schedules, when they will be on TV, etc. Sprinkle in some ads to sell products (Exclusively at OprahWeb! Oprah's custom-designed Pomeranian sweaters!) and the money would roll in.

No joke. I read on another board a post by a woman who has been waiting 3 years to be in the Oprah audience and will show up 8 hours before the doors open (even though she already has a ticket). There's no limit to what people will do to get more information about their favorite celebrities.
