Cel566 immune to cooling?

My Cel566 - which I am beginning to refer to as "Fido" - responds not at all to cooling. Using the same rig that took a 366 up to 660, I cannot get this thing stable above 900 mhz. Even with a watercooled pelt setup that got the thermal diode temp down to 44 degrees Fahrenheit, it won't run a 110 mhz FSB even at 1.8 volts.

In the end I might as well stay with the retail HSF.

Is this because "Fido" is a bit of a dog? If I buy another 566, will my pelt setup still be surplus?

If anyone has any experiences with pelts and their impact on 566's (or the lack thereof), I would love to hear about them.

Thanks.

I have a Compuwiz 566 which is absolutely stable at 850MHz @ 1.65 volts. At 892 MHz it will fail the stability test within 30 minutes at any voltage(up to 1.85 which is the most I can get) Temperature never goes above 110 degrees F. It will not boot to windows at 935MHz at any voltage. These things seem to hit a rather definite wall and it won't move.

I have a celeron 566, overclocked it to 935 at 1.8volts using a Golden Orb. Since I bought a pelt I can run at 952 but not quite stable at 977. It helped a little, but I was nearing the end of my chips limit. I bought the pelt so I could lower the temps and run a lower voltage, not to overclock higher. I'd say your chip has just reached its limit. In other circumstances a peltier could do wonders for a 566.
