I just ordered a cel566 retail and was wondering what my chances are of running it at 850? Also can it be done with the stock intel fan? I have an Abit ZM6 m/b and 128mb micron pc100ecc ram. Is there anything I need to do this the best way?

I just got my retail cel566 today. I put it in my Asus Slocket, set the jumpers to 1.50 v and booted up to Win ME at 850. I got a BSOD when I was playing SOF, so I upped the voltage to 1.60 and it is running solid now. I used the Intel heatsink and fan that came with it, but I used some radioshack grease instead of the pad that is on the HS. My system is now running much cooler than it did with my 300a@450 2.00 v. I am very pleased with the chip. I think I can push it higher, but my el cheapo RAM might hold me back. Good luck.

If your going to try it with the retail heatsink/fan, get the radio shack heatsink grease at least! I wouldn't bother even trying it with the thermal pad.

I have a tube of Philips Heat Sink Compound PN#ECG424, do you know if it is any good? I should have the CPU and Fan by Friday so I will try it when it gets here.
Thanks for all the help guys

I got my cel566 and it will post at 850 but will not get to win me. I have set the voltage as high as 1.70v but not higher yet. How high is safe with the retail stock Intel fan? I have used the heat sink paste.
