Ceiling tile hit me in the head in a DoubleTree Hotel

I was thinking of contacting a lawyer. The hotel manager gave us the contact info for the General Manger, but refused to give us a copy of the incident report.

What other steps do I need to take.

BTW, here's the whole story:

Was taking a shower, something hit me on the head (I thought it was the shower head). My girl ran in and saw the metal ceiling tile in the shower (by this time I opened my eyes and realized it wasn't the shower head).

I took photos, and showed the manager when we checked out. He offered to buy us lunch while we filled out the report, but I told him that there were 6 others waiting for us outside.

Edit: Grammatical error.

You're not seriously injured, are you? If not, you got your stay refunded. Let it go.

Claim long-term brain damage and submit a lawsuit :D

Heck, if you can be awarded millions for spilt hot coffee, I say you have a decent chance!

Okay, now are you trying to file suit because you actually got hurt, or are you suing because you want to make money that you didn't earn?

Were you hurt? You didn't mention any injuries so I'm going to assume you're just a litigous fool.

Accidents happen. Get over it.

Pics?

Of your Girlfriend, not the tile. :p

j/k Seriously, would like to see pics of the tile that hit you. If it is a big enough chunk you may have a good case.

Don't be one of those sue happy pussies. They're whats wrong with society and you have to be better than them. Sounds like the manager went out of his way to make things right anyway.

I got a bruise on my head, but I'm a man, I got over it. I got hit in the head w/ a hockey puck (well, a roll of electrical tape) and kept playing.

If it was my girl, she probably would've been knocked out.

Edit: Spelling error, hit in the head, not hid.

So you're suing to get them to repair the hotel, not for money. Okay, that's reasonable.

Talk to a lawyer. If you file the right forms the hotel must provide you with the incident report.

If there was no serious injury then you probably would not have much to sue for. Your damages have to be a bit more than a bruise to make it worth something. You'll end up spending more for an attorney than for what you would get. However, the hotel really should bend over backward for you because it could have been far more serious than it was and thus they would really be screwed! I'd point that out to them and really hit them up for some freebees.

My girl was more upset that I was. It was a loud bang, because the thing was made of metal. Basically it's just there so plumbers can remove it to access the pipes above it. If you see the photos, it looks really bad, like someone could've been killed.

Yeah, you might want to have someone look at it. An unexpected subdural hematoma is never fun.

Actually, no... If he really has a case then an attorney will take care of it for 'free'.
