That may be because you have never heard his music and are nonetheless making a judgement? The guy is hardly a "gansta rapper". He does rap, but he also sings quite a bit if not most of the time, and his voice is like an updated motown singer voice. St. Elsewhere is more or less predominantly a soul album.

Look man, if you were a black man in the music industry 10 years ago, do you have any idea what kind of stuff you would have to rap about to sell any records?
Killing people, slapping hoes, and selling drugs. That's what the market wanted and that's what they got. Just because someone rapped about that doesn't mean that's all they're about, it means they wanted a Benz and a mansion. I'd do the same thing and you are lying through your teeth if you say otherwise.

If you were to actually look at the lyrics of Gnarls Barkely instead of talking out of your ass you would see that Cee-lo is hardly a gansta rapper. 10 bucks says you searched for Cee-lo lyrics and picked the most vapid song he had to be a dick.

It may exist, but I agree he's probably not it. But he is a great singer and extremely talented vocally. If I had to pick a vocal genius, it might just be B. B. King. Mostly because that's the first name that popped into my head.
