Hey, who's ever been to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio? Is everyone anxious for the new ride they got there this year? Considering they're the king of theme parks and king of coasters (only park to have more than 1 coaster in the top 5 (a total of 2 at last count) and the only park to have 4 in the top 10 (2nd highest is two by 6 flags) best coasters in the world) I know this new ride is going to blow my socks off.

For those who are advid fans of cedar point, what's your favorite ride there? I'm going to say the following are my favorites:

New Coaster: Millenium Force!
Classic Coaster: Gemini!
Water Ride: Thunder Canyon!

What about you?

Raptor and Mantis, but I like them all.

Is almost twice as far at Kings Island, but is ten times better.

So many to choose from! The mantis and raptor of course. I didn't get to ride the Millenium Force because of a 2hour wait:frown: but dont forget the magnum:D

I haven't been out there in about 5 years (live in CA), but even back then that place was amazing.

I was just at Six Flags Magic Mountain this past weekend and suffered a two hour wait to ride on X. Worth every second of the wait...

I have an uncle that moved down there, so ever since that, we hit CP pretty often...used to be with family, at least, but now that I'm older, it's mostly trips with friends. But it's seriously one of the most fun places in the world, those rides are GREAT. After going to Disneyworld, those rides are like bunny hills.

Aaah, that was one of the perks of living near Pittsburgh :( The Gemini was the baddest coaster in the land the last time I was there

I remember when Kennywood (Pittsburgh) had like 5 good wooden coasters (Racer, Jackrabbit....?)

One of these days, I've got to get down to Magic Mountain.

edit: are you saying the Gemini is still at Cedar Point?!? Or it's just a good memory?

Blue Streak = best wooden coaster ever.
Huh?? The Blue Streak was fast (in its day), but it didn't rate with the Gemini.

I've been to Cedar Point perhaps seven or eight times, the last time being around 21 or 22. Man I freaked out on the Sky Ride thing the last time I was there. You know that car that dangles from the cable and takes you from one end of the park to the other. I was looking at how small that cable was then had one of those 'what if' thoughts while I was up there and that was it - freak time. I grabbed a hold of the side of the car and white knuckled that bastard all the way to the end.

That's what happens when recognizing your mortality displaces youthful disregard. Damned getting old! :p

They're open in the middle of may. Not sure of the exact date just yet. I know it's on their event calender on their website.

Hey, JC, it's still there! It's one of now 15 coasters they have! All the old classics are still there too. Including blue streak and the mine ride! Now the mine ride is just fun.

they are finishing a new one that should be ready to ride in may called the dragster or something. it accelerates you from a start to 120 mph, then you shoot straight up and twist. Go over the top, go straight down and twist, accelerate again to 120 mph, the brakes come on and your taking back to the station. Thats why its called top thrill dragster.:Q
i cannot wait!:D

Did you ever ride it before they replaced the cars? They used to have nothing but a T-bar and a lap belt.

A SINGLE lap belt for both passengers. I remember one time, on a bet, I stood up on it. That T-bar still has the imprint of my fingers. You were taking your life into your own hands every time you got on the thing. It was F-ing great. :D

Cedar Point has some great rides but memories of waiting for 1-2 hours for rides in the hot sun always was a letdown.

I haven't been there in quite a while.

Growing up in Michigan, we usually went once a year. I remember when they built the Mean Streak, the wooden rollercoaster. That thing kicks your ass.

I was always partial to the Magnum.

My favorite was the old pirate ride, gone now, first ride and last of the day. The wife & I like the Disaster Transport, you can ride it at least six times in an hour, and the Iron Dragon. But now that we have kids Camp Snoopy and the Kiddie Park is where we spend most of our time.

I used to work the Coasters at Great America (six flags) in Chicago but I always heard Cedar point was Da Bomb.... I need to go. Do they have a hanging coaster a la "Batman the Ride" ?

This will knock your socks off, but Cedar point is going to be the site of some expirimental amusement park system, where every visitor is bar coded (you wear a card on a string around your neck) and this big server tracks the movement of crowds and the people who work there are given instructions through thier headsets of where congestion is and where to send people next. Supposedly it will guarentee you never have to wait more than 10 minutes for any ride. Supposedly they are modeling it after air traffic control systems.
