Cd's skipping when burnt

I have a problem. When I burn cd's, some of them will skip. I'm using Nero, tried adaptec cd creator and they both do the same thing. What causes and also will fix this problem?? Its only when burning from hardrive-->cd. Actually its only when ripping wav files.

What are you using to "rip" the wav files? If you are copying tracks from a cds, why don't you use Neor to pull off the tracks??

How fast are you buring these cds?? Slow it down.

Ok
1) using nero to rip wav's
2)could slow it down. 8x is what i rip at. The buffer never went below 90%.
3) would putting the cd burner on a sczi or controller card help with speed issues?

It could, but before we go wasting money when it may not be necessary...What is your current ide configuration? Is this cd-rw on same channel as the harddrive you are burning from? In cd to cd no problems? Is it because they are on separate channel?

Also what kind of media or you doing this on? Is it rated for faster then 8x? I generally don't go much higher then 8x cause some machines may have difficulting reading them as well as I thought some of my 12x burns skip more easily in my car then the 8x running over the same rough road. May be unrelated I don't know...

Give whole system specs why you are at it...

Ok, thanks for the help.
1)system specs:
880mhz athlon k7
8x burn rate hp 9100 series burner

2)cd-rw is on ide 2, hardrive is on ide 1. Ide 2 has cd-rom and burner on it. It only does it when you burn from hd->cd-rw.

I will try burning at 4x, see if it works. Some cd's do not skip though.

Man, that didnt help either. Could it be cd's or the burner? Some cd's play fine the first and second time but skip after that. So odd.

You mean they actually degrade? I would think this is crap media...What brand? Did you buy them cheap on some sort of spindle?

Have you tried them for skipping in car audio plyer, home entertainment center, and cd-rom in computer? I would like to rule out certain drives.

well...they played fine in my friends truck, my car, and my portable mp3 player. Like last nite for instance..we were cruising to wendys and the cd played fine. Took it out to play in my portable mp3 player and it skipped like crazy. Skipped in the car on the way home too. They are maxell cd recordables. Yes a spindle of them. Will try them in playstation and cd-rom now.
