CDs dont update to whats in the drive

Since I got my new motherboard and CPU (see sig) both of my CD drives dont update to what is in the drive even after a hard refresh of the window. Could this be a problem with the VIA drivers and stuff? I didnt install the 4-in-1 drivers because it stated they werent needed in Windows XP
Help!

Errr, ALWAYS install the Via 4-in-1 drivesr. Windows XP might not REQUIRE them, but those are likely old versions of the 4-in-1. Go install the 4-in-1's and get back to us.

i said in reply two that i installed them still with no luck one other person in a m$ newsgroup is having the same problem

Oops, didn't see. I thought you were just bumping your thread. Maybe a motherboard exchange is in order. You might just be the unlucky one that'll get a defective board. Have you tried moving a drive to the Primary? is it detecting your HD's correctly?

hard drive detection is fine
i opened up the DMA tool privded by VIA and it only shows my one hard drive on IDE channel one (there are actually two). I also have another hard drive on a seperate controller card, a scsi dvd-ram on another controller card and an ide cd writer on ide channel 2. Complicated
what i could do it strying switching the channels to see if that will do anything

I switched around the channels, no luck (im gonna switch em back cuz my cables are neater that way )
disregard the DMA tool comment too. The DMA tool is specifically for PCI IDE controllers like I have and just have that one hard drive on there.
I have no clue why this is happening but its driving me truly mad.

It might not be a hardware relate issue... I used to have this problem with my old system. I would put a CD in, and the directory would be read, but when I ejected it, and put in another CD, it still displayed the old contents...

Have you tried this ... after placing the first CD in the drive, right click the drive and select Eject ... that way its a software eject (as opposed to hardware eject) and close the tray without a cd. Place the next CD in, and press F5 to refresh the contents....
