CDs created with plextor 16/10/40 can not read in my Toshiba

I have been looking into that issue and I found out that I need to close the CD in Easy CD creator to read in all CD ROMS ... but I didn't use Easy CD creator to create the disk, I used the format ultility that came with it and did drag and drop from Explorer ... do I still need to close it with Easy CD ?
Also do I need an ATA 100 cable for it ... because it is hooked up to the ATA 100 on the motherboard with the regular cable, would it run faster if I hooked it up with 80 wires connector ? What transfer rate speed is the max I can get on it !?
Also how do I disable Autostart ? like when I insert Win2K CD it will star and ask me if I wana install it !??

did you use direct cd to make the cd?
are you using a cdrw?
you may need a UDF reader to read a cd made with packet writing which you can get from here!

To disable AutoPlay

1.. Double-click My Computer.
2.. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the File
Types tab.
3.. In Registered file types, click AudioCD, and then click Advanced.
4.. In Actions, click Play, and then click Set Default.

Note:
a.. You can temporarily disable AutoPlay by pressing SHIFT while you
insert an audio CD.
b.. Repeating steps 1 through 4 enables AutoPlay.
c.. When Play is displayed in bold, AutoPlay is enabled. When Play is
not displayed in bold, AutoPlay is disabled.

Thanks a lot bacillus this is great info, yes I used Direct CD that came with easy CD to format the disk, so all I need is to get that UDF reader and I'm all set ! this has nothing to do with closing the CD...
Also thanks for the info on Autostart ... I would have never figured that one out my self .. it's crazy !!
