CDs burned under XP are unreadable

I use Nero 5 to burn my CDs in both Windows ME and in Windows XP. It works just fine in Windows ME, it worked just fine in Windows XP RC2, but in the final XP build any CDs I burn are unreadable, whether I use Nero or Windows' native CD-writing function. My roommate has the same problem with his machine.

Has anyone else encountered and/or discovered a fix for this?

IM currently having the same problem. I cant read some of the CD's that i've burned in WIN98SE either.
Everytime i put in a CD-R it would freeze XP and i would have to reboot.
IM using a PLexwriter, so i thought it wasn't compatable, so i e-mailed plextor support about it and the guy told me that

"You won't be able to read a DirectCD formatted disc in XP until
> there is a
> >DirectCD driver for it.
DirectCD and InCD are both UDF format discs. Currently discs made with those
programs won't work properly with XP."

those programs that he's referring to are NERO. because i told him i burned some CD's with NERO and i cant read them under XP.

Does anyone know how to fix this???
I hope what that support guy knows what he's talking about =]

Thank you
Laura

*game show buzzer sound*

Already tried that update, it didn't fix anything. And the issue here is not CDs being unreadable in 98/ME/2000 and not in XP, the issue is burning the CD in XP and not being able to read it in XP.
