CDRW wont detect (XP)

I have a usb Sony Spressa Cd-rw that worked just a few weeks ago and today i go to make a cd and it is not detecting it. The drivers are messed up and is coming up as just an "ATAPI Storage Device" and not loading the correct ones. I used it before in XP so i know it works but dont know why it wont load the drivers anymore in XP. Infact XP used to detect it all by itself not it is "unknown device". I had the "missing cdrom drives" problem last time but fixed that and it worked perfectly that time, but could it be related to that ? Or any other guesses ?
 
removed and let windows reinstall, nothing. Thing is XP use to detect it but it doesnt anymore and the latest drivers Sony put out were for win98
