Hi :) everyone I use Adaptec easy cd Creator 4.0 OEM Version not the deluxe version, and cd creator ver. 3.0 Using these two programs and trying to format a cdrw disk can either program be used to do this or is it the direct cd that does the formating ? ps And no program can format a cdr disk correct? Believe me I have been reading up on this, and it is still not clear. lol :) thanks

To use the CDRW like a drive letter you must format it to packet cd format with direct cd

is there anyway that a cdrw be used if it is not been formated? Can one not format the disk and still write to it. Also am I correct that if one formats a cdrw and they record to it like a floppy, and if they wish it to be read in another computer with a multi read cd rom they must must also have udf reader in the other unit to be able to read the packet format. thanks :)

You do not have to format a CD-RW disc to write to it. If you want to use it as a floppy, then yes, you must format it. But if you have a lot of information to back up, a whole CD-RW can be written just like a CD-R, without formatting anything.

You can use it (CDRW) just like a normal CDR in any writer program and erase the RW if you dont like it.

Cd creator will not "format" a CDRW. It will write to the CDRW the same as a normal CDR (no drag and drop in explorer)

You only need to format a CDRW if you will be using packet writing.

You can format a cdrw for packet writing using Direct CD, which probably came with your CDRW drive.

So lets review lol :)
adaptec easy cd creator is for cdr disk and one can copy most any type of file to this type of disk.
alos using the same s/w if one wants to record, lets say wav music to it, that one must leave the session open so that one can come back to it at a later time and resume the session, but if one wants to take the cdr to another computer and read it then one has to close the session which also means that one can not come back to it and record more to it, because the session is closed.

So if one leaves the session open on a cdr one can come back to it the next day and add more music ?

Adaptec cd creator is used to copy a complete disk either on a cdrw, cdr, or a cdrw formated disk. This is not the program to try and use if one once to copy track to track. So if one wants to use the cdrw as a floppy the disk must be formated and then writen to as a packet format?

Thanks guys I'm just going over these things in my mind to see if I can get it straight, and get the cob webs out of it :):) lol
