CDRW (IDE) drive: Which/What should I get?

Hello all,
I am getting a new (IDE) CDRW drive soon but still haven't decide on which to get.

Which speed should I get? I'm thinking of getting either 32x or 40x (write). How fast can they burn a full 650MB CD?

I'm not considering the Plextor or Yamaha drives as they are all expensive.

How're the 32x drives from Liteon, Asus or Ricoh? What about the TDK or Mitsumi?

Is there any review or round up on the net? Thanks a lot.

One more question, is there any differences between the anti buffer-underun protections like BurnProof, JustLink...? Do they work the same? Which specific one is better than the others?

Thanks...

I'm very pleased with my LiteOn 40x burner. Why did I choose it over the others?

1) It has support for 100min CDs
2) Some of the fastest burns out there, faster than Teac/Yamaha/Etc
3) LiteOn has a good rep :)
4) Cost me a whopping $76
5) Automagic media detection

Burns anything in under 3:30.

ianching - BurnProof and JustLink are names for exactly the same thing.

In my eyes, these drives eliminated the advantages of SCSI burners - I have a Teac 12x10x32 with burnproof and love it - though honestly I'm planning on getting a Lite-On 40x burner this summer.

Best of luck

P.S. I've heard some stories from people who say Lite-Ons don't last long - I haven't seen it myself, but you could likely search for threads discussing it. Just wanted to give you a chance to get the whole story (if there is one)
