CDRW- How to burn audio cds with no gaps between songs? (gapless)

THE INFO:
I have an ACER 12x8x32x cdrw and I want to burn audio cds with no gaps between songs. (Like a long DJ set, with track markers at specific points.. but I don't want the 2 seconds of audio between songs.)

People keep telling me it is software, but I looked at ACER's specs and it specifically says it cannot do gapless recording. I have used different softwares- NERO as well as others- and they always say my burner isn't compatible with that type of burning- and it forces it to put in 2 second gaps between songs.

THE QUESTION:
Which CDRW's out there right now can do gapless recording? Do general brands like Lite-On, BenQ, etc. etc. offer this feature.. as standard on all of their burners? Do just about all reasonaly good drives do this?
People have told me that there are CDRW drives out there that have gapless recording as standard, but this is something that ususally isn't noted on the box.

I have all these DJ mix cds to make for friends, but my poor 12x just can't do it.

Ideas/ Reccomendations?
[I know someone will suggest I go and buy a really nice TDK or Plextor drive because they will probably offer gapless recording- but I just can't shell out $80.00 for a burner. I'm looking to grab a reasonable rebate-friendly Cendyne/LiteOn drive for around $40.

Thanks a lot!

I know that in nero you can set it so that there is no gap for each individual song... just right click on the song and change the pause from 2 seconds to 0 seconds. You could also try google or the help menu for nero.

I'm not asking about software.

I am asking about hardware.

Which, if any, CDRW Drive brands allow gapless recording?

Maybe there's a workaround, I know a friend who has software, i'll have to ask what it is.

It'll make different' audio files like Mp3's and make them into one big file. Maybe it'll be a workaournd for ya.

I believe that the hardware still has to support it, but I don't know which newer burners that wouldn't support it.
My old HP 4x2x24x burner even has it if I'm not mistaken (disk at once or track at once).
My friend's old 2x burner even had it cause he used to like making cds sound like they were one long concert.

Well that'll work, but if you do that you'll lose the track to track navigation ability.

What does HARDWARE have to do with this? It's software that allows you to do this. You need a program to do it... A different CDBurner isn't going to make any difference.

DAO? It records tracks seperately but without any 2-second gap that TRACK-At-Once will give you.

Like I said, I use it for my live music collection - recording entire concert sets together without gaps so that the music sets flow as they are meant to be.

As stated by a few peeps above - I think SOFTWARE is the solution here, as every CD-RW I've seen/used works with it if the the software supports it. My first Philips CDRW back in 1996 (2x...hehe) did it...

And yes...the track markers still exist allowing you to skip/select tracks as you wish, but they don't take up audible time.

Dude, what in the world are you saying?

The 2-second gap has NOTHING to do with hardware...

Gosh, I've been burning CDs since 1998 - first with Easy CD Cre(m)ator, then with Nero - and I've never had any problems recording DJ sets or concerts...

Look - what CD burning software are you using? Is it Nero?

Here is the step by step guide to record CDs without 2-second gaps, taken right from the Nero homepage.

Unless you're really helpless with computers, I suggest you skip directly to Step 14 in the tutorial...

Now, if you use something else than Nero, please check the website of the manufacturers, but I'm pretty sure it's a question of very similar settings...

Cheers!
