CDRW Help!!

ok, i'm getting just a little frustrated here.. heres the deal..

i jsut built a new system around a asus a7n266-vm mobo, and athlon xp1500 cpu...

the problem is, when i open up nero 5.5, even after a fresh install, the system locks up when Nero is doing it's SCSI/IDE Bus scan.. it locks up EVERY SINGLE TIME!

my question is... why?!?! i've replaced both the cd-rw and the mobo.. so thats not it... and i'm reinstalling Windows XP Pro as i type this... so if that doesnt fix the problem... then i'm gonna go nuts.....

can anyone help me??

---UPDATE---

i installed my old LiteOn 16x10x40 burner in there, with nero 5, and the problem is gone, and i can actualyl burn... but.... it burns VERY VERY SLOWLY... which i know its not supposed to be like that.... could there be some problem with the nero 5.5 software or the hardware and the Asus board/bios?? im running the burner that failed in the new system and nero 5.5 on my older msi kt266a setup, and it runs just fine, burned a 695 meg disc (SVCD) in just under 4 mins... so.... anyone have any ideas!?!

Just a shot in the dark but did you install the Nero updates yet? I think it is up to version 5.5.9.0 so far. Give it a shot if you haven't. Don't ask why, just try! Also, go into the "toolkit" and tinker with the options there in CD Speed and Drive Speed. You may find the answers there.
