CDRW and DVD on the same Bus

I connected CDRW(TDK velo 121032) (master) and dvd as the slave on the secondary IDE.A7M266 is MOBO
OS identified all the drives.

Here are my Qs
1. when making CD to CD burning, Nero is giving warning saying both drives are on same BUS may cause CDRW to work at less that 12X speed. Is it a Problem ? Any other solution to get away with it?
2. My CDRW green light is always on...Is it OK(Activity is showing with orange color)

2. I have ATI Radeon 32 MB DDR. I installed ATI DVD software. But I am unable play DVD

Thanks in advance

I have my 8x hp burner and 12x toshiba dvd on the same bus. Works fine for me. I'm not sure how ATI software is, but I've never had a problem playing dvd's in win98 (powerdvd 2.55) or win2k (powerdvd 3). I don't think th egreen light should be a problem, but maybe someone who knows more would.

I have my burner and CD drive on the same channel and I have not been succesfull burning directly from a CD. Then again, I have an extremely ghetto CD drive and that was with an a different operating system.

I have my burner and DVD on the same channel, but I never do CD-CD copies, I always copy to the hard drive first and burn from the hard drive. If your burner has burnproof, then it isn't really an issue, but the burner will not be able to work at full speed on CD-CD copies, but then again it might still be faster than spooling to the hard drive first.

As for not being able to play DVDs, check to make sure DMA is enabled on the DVD drive. Go to the hardware properties window for the drive and make sure the DMA checkbox is checked.

As for the light, don't know. If it is just supposed to show the drive is getting power, then it is fine. Don't know the TDK drives, however.

My burner and DVD are on the same channel and I have no problems. Acer 10x burner works fine CD-to-CD. I have an ATI card, but not Radeon, and it works fine. You either have a driver issue or something's not configured correctly.

I agree with most others, no problems with a Hitachi DVD and a Teac CD-RW on the same IDE.

The TDK Velocds light is always on while you have a cd in it. Take the cd out and the light will go off. I have the exact same thing. I always take my cd out so I don't burn it out quick.

When I installed my Teac 12x10x32 into my system, the manual instructions read that I should connect the CD-RW as the slave and the Pioneer DVD as the master, which it already was ....... on the same EIDE channel ........ no problems so far.

I haven't tried burning on-the-fly yet as all the cd's I've made I wanted the most accurate copy possible ....... ?
