cdrom wont work correctly in Mandrake 7.1

i have a generic 56x cdrom and a 4x toshiba DVDrom....in KED well everything can be read fine with the dvd...but when i try to open up files...like mp3s on the 56x it says the file is not recognized..but it is recognized fine on with the dvd...also...if i copy from the 56x to desktop it is still unreadable but is readable from dvd to desktop
anyone have this problem before...anything would help...

also in gnome...how come i cant access my two roms? its odd...
