cdrom tray wont stay closed

I know that they are cheap to replace, but out of curiosity can anyone tell me why the tray refuses to stay closed? If I put in a cdrom it just pops back out. The device manager shows it to be working properly.

I did a google search without any luck.

you can try the ol' "bent out paperclip in the eject hole" trick. stick a paperclip in and see if the eject button is jammed in there.
