CDROM shows in slave?

my cdrom is connected in secondary master, but it still shows as slave..........jumper is correctly inserted.....wat could be the problem.? other than a HDD on primary master no other device is connected to ide channels

system specs:
athlon 2000
a7n266
DDR266(2100)
20 GB samsung(ata100) connected on primary master
 
can you describe the exact jumping setting and position on the IDE Cable? (Maybe you have CS selected and on the middle connector on the secondary IDE cable?)

 
no it is not connected in the middle position of the cable, i checked up user manual of my cdrom....jumper is connected on master only.... driver is also brand new...
