CDROM not working all of a sudden

hi everyone......

After inserting a CD and using it my computer's CDROM drive suddenly dissapeared from Windows Explorer as well as My Computer......I do not know how it happened but it happened after I used a cd. I had no problems in using the CD ...... I thought Power Joe's trick(the registry hack) would help me but it didn't ......do you guys have any other solutions or do I have to go for a re-format or installation?

Have you checked that the cables are not loose? I was very puzzled when one of my cables suddenly popped out and I lost the CDROM.

I just reformated the drive and it is working just as it worked before..I didn't check for any cable problem etc.....I dont know what was the problem was......
