CDrom is clicking cant figure it out?

the cdrom was working fine now what it does is it plays the music for awhile then the music stops the a clicking sound comes from the speakers then the music will come back on. it just goes back and forth. ive tried other cds and it does the same thing. any ideas on what is going on would be greatly apreciated.
