CDRom in safe mode

My brain is lapsing, a friend needs help and I just can't remember how to get the cd rom install in safe mode.. device manage, cd rom, update driver, then a generic driver? Boot disk? Gimme a hand? Thanks.

I think you can just load DOS cd-rom drivers and it will be available.
