cdr writer can't do cd on the fly

hi i just bought a iomega cdr writer 12/10/32 which is a liteon drive.
i also had a 16X slot in pioneer dvd drive.which can read cd at 40x

The problem is i can't do cd copy directly from dvd drive to cdr drive at 12X speed..

When i try to do at 8X .. the reliability is a question...50 % of the time i will ot get a coaster..

but when i copy from dvd to hd..then to cd writer..i can do it at the top speed of 12 X

Just wondering is this normal or is there anythign i can tweak..

by the way..my drive have burnproof of 4mb..and comes with iomega adaptec software..

i also had nero 5.5 but when i uset he 2 software tgether...i will get software conflict which i assume is onli normal..

thus i am onli using adaptec now

put the dvd drive & the cdrw on different ide channels & check that both drives have DMA enabled!

Some thoughts:

1) Are the drives on the same IDE channel? If so put them one separate channels and try again.
2) Make sure DMA is enabled for both drives.
3) Are you burning an audio cd? If so, the DVDROM will be reading using its DAE speed not its read speed which in your case is 40x. Preferably, to burn an audio cd at 12x on the fly the DAE speed of your CDROM/DVD should be double that of your burn speed which, in your case would be 24x. Since I don't have your DVDROM I don't know what your DAE speed really is. But, I was able to burn audio cd's on the fly at 10x with my CDROM's DAE speed at 16x so in reality it really doesn't have to be double.
4) About NERO. If you have Adaptec DirectCD installed it will ask you to remove it first before you install NERO. But you can just ignore that message and install NERO anyways. I've done that several times without any problems. Just don't install InCD since that's Ahead's version of packet writing software. I've had EZCD and Nero on my system at the same time without any problems so I don't know what can be causing your conflict.

If it's a LiteON 12X then why not just enable Burnproof?

maybe your computer cant buffer it fast enough, have you tried 4x?
