I am trying to back up stuff onmy harddrive since i am gonna reinstall my OS. However, when I try to back up everything on to a cdr, it does not write to it. It goes through the normal routine of writing to the cd, but after it finishes and ejects the cd, i put it back in and nothing is on the cd. How can I fix this? Is stuff being written to the cd, but it is not readeable?cI tried Nero and CDburnerXP pro.

perhaps the cd is not being closed at the end of the write? can u try to go back into nero and write to the cd again, but check the box to close the cd.

edit - yeah, i meant finalize the cd.

I tried burning again in Nero and I noticed a message saying that data verifcation failed. Also, I tried reading teh cd in my g/f's laptop and her cd buring software says the cd is empty. I hate the cdrw that came with this laptop.

unfortunately no, the simulation mode is to allow you to go through the procedure of writing to the CD in a test mode where nothing actually gets written to the CD which is what I thought may be happening in your case....

has it ever worked? in the past?
