Is there really any difference between brands. I've personally used over 10 different brands and have seen absolutely no difference.

on marginal readers, there are better cd-r's.

but if you play your media on decent, or recent cd players, you'll never know the difference.

ie. my 94 ford with 94 factory cd player has problems with the blue outpost.com cd-r's.

however the green 12x ones play perfectly.

Go figure.

I haven't seen a difference either... it has a lot more to do with your equipment...

i wouldn't be able to tell u what or how much difference there is, however i just love mitsui's... can't even say why. i just think they're the highest quality cd-r's around... it's kinda like i only buy plextor cd-rom/rw's too. sure that s&f or whoever one is sorta ;) plextor, but i just want the real thing i guess... that's for MY storage and backup. friends stuff. bah, whatever's cheapest :)

The FujiFilm 80m's on sale at CompUSA for $10 after rebate today are made by Taiyo Yuden. Good as Mitsui.

There is a big difference with the brands. I once bought cheap Fry's Hotan brand and I burned 2 successful CDs (1 died after a week) and 8 others were coasters. No, it wasn't my burner because we tried this on another guy's writer. Some cheap CDRs will not play in CD Players. Go with the trusted brands like TDK and Mitsui.

I would generally agree that you want to go with name-brand media. I did, however, find a nice deal today here:

http://www.cdrplanet.com/pricspec.html

200 12x certified blanks for $50 and $6 to ship them.

I had used some of their 8x certified blanks, and they worked great. I will let you guys know how they work out.
