CDR + CD Rom

Ok here is another question. I purchased a cdr last Sunday and it is working good. I have a Yamaha not sure on the model #. The unit says it can burn at 16x but I get errors if I go faster than 8x. My question is I am having problems with my old 40x cd rom drive not sure if it is a driver issue or not. Would it be better to just pull the old drive out and use the CDR for both or is there a benifit of having two drives. Thanks for your opinions.

How high is your media rated?

This is from crapy recordable cd's,and yes keep your 40x,the less your cdr has to READ the longer it will last.

I was burning a cd from an mp3 on my hard drive. I am not sure on the media question could you explain what you mean. I am using a program that came with the cd burner it converts the mps to a wav file. Hmmmm

your media (blank cdr's) has to support high speed burning. when you buy your blanks make sure it's rated for 16x. it might list off all the speeds or say something like certified for all speeds etc.
and yes, keep your old 40x. it will come in handy someday. as for cd>cd copies, you will have to check what DAE speed (for music at least) your cd-rom can do.

Ok I got you the cds were cheap but they said 16x capable. Hmm I don't know. I only wish I could figure what is wrong with the old cd rom. I am getting an error that says runtime error then if I try it again it reads the cd ok.
