CDR buy advice?

I want to buy a new CDR. Since I have a laptop at work, a few workstations that I regularly work at, and a few computers at home, I want to by a external writer. Not all computers are ssci capable, so I would need to go with one that has a non ssci interface.

What would you guys recommend? also, what are the limitations of a non-ssci external that i should be aware of?

thanks in advance...

Speed and the USB port. USB burners are going to be slow, 4, 6x, but if you can find a firewire one, that would probably be your best bet.

The only recommendation i have is to go for an external USB Atapi enclosure and get whatever drive you want and put it in it.

Why spend $90 for an external USB enclosure and then have to purchase a drive when you can get a USB external drive for < $160? You are still going to be limited to 4x (or 6x in only a few models) due to bandwidth limits regardless of what speed drive you get.
